Jo Alch, RN // Owner, Director of Nursing
Jo is the Founder and Director of Nursing at Acappella. Jo worked as a hospice field and triage nurse for many years, discovering a big void in exceptional private duty care and nursing services. Jo opened Acappella in 2006, with a vision to be the leading private pay agency in the DFW area. Jo has won numerous awards for her efforts. She was selected as one of the “Great 100 RNs” in Dallas in 2007. In 2012, Jo was awarded D Magazine’s prestigious “Excellence in Nursing” for home care, and was also recognized by Nurses.Com magazine as a regional finalist for outstanding home care nursing. Jo served on the Board of Directors of the Texas Association for Home Care and Hospice, and had an active role on the private pay committee. She is currently serving on the board for the Community Council of Greater Dallas, and is the committee chair for the Dallas Area Agency on Aging. Jo is an active member of her church choir, recently performing at Carnegie Hall in NYC. She is originally from New Orleans, where she is in the Krewe of Muses. Jo has an amazing husband and three wonderful children.
Matt Alch // CFO
Matt came to Acappella in 2007, after spending 25 years at Fortune 500 companies, Citigroup and Wells Fargo. He began his career at The Associates as an accountant in its relocation company and later was responsible for financial reporting for several of the company’s commercial business lines. By the time, the Associates was acquired by Citi, he had moved to the risk analytics group in the consumer lending side of the company. He left Citi and went to work at Wells Fargo as part of a newly formed risk analysis/decision science team, where he spent most of his time developing credit scoring and loss forecasting models for the company’s real estate, credit card, and Canadian consumer loan portfolios. Since he came to Acappella, Matt has been responsible for all financial/accounting matters and much of the back office functions for the company. Having been part of Acappella since the early days, he feels incredibly proud and blessed to have played a part in building Acappella into the premier Private Duty agency in DFW.
Tracy Copeland // Assistant Director of Nursing
Tracy was born in Canada to British parents who immigrated to Toronto in the 60’s. She received her BScN and worked in several major Toronto hospitals before moving to the United States. Travel was Tracy’s passion and she quickly learned how to combine both, taking travel assignments in various places; New Mexico, Connecticut, North Carolina, and Bermuda. In 2004 Tracy took an assignment in Dallas and it quickly became her new permanent home.
Tracy’s nursing career is very diverse, working in various positions from hospice, labor and delivery, psychiatry, cosmetic injections, pediatrics and her favorite is serving the geriatric clientele in the community. Education and teaching is what Tracy’s enthusiastic about and enjoys working with the Acappella Staff to ensure that we provide the best care possible to all patients and families.
Ope Daramola // Director of Human Resources
Ope is the director of Human Resources for Acappella. She is responsible for employee recruitment, development and performance management. Prior to joining Acappella, she worked at healthcare institutions in the areas of acute care and home health. Ope holds a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology from Michigan State University and a Master of Healthcare Administration from Texas State University. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and working with the youth ministry at her church.
Hope Self, RN // Assistant Director of Nursing/Client Care Coordinator
Hope obtained her Undergraduate Degree in Spanish at Louisiana State University, and later her RN designation at El Centro College in Dallas, Texas. She is grateful to have had the opportunity to live in Mexico as an Exchange Student, studying at both the Universidad de Guadalajara, and at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico in Mexico City. She began her nursing career in Ambulatory Acute Care, and later spent 11 years in Bilingual Telephonic Triage in a major Dallas hospital.
Her career path has now placed her in a position of caring for the older adult population, which she truly enjoys. She is a member of the Palliative and Home Health Nurses Association of Texas, and was recently inducted into the Community Board of the Dallas County Adult Protective Services.
She is an Ambassador for the Metrocrest Chamber of Commerce, and is honored to be participating in their Leadership Metrocrest Class XXVII, a program designed to increase community knowledge and leadership skills in those seeking civic leadership positions.
She has been married to a Dallasite for the past 21 years, has a son who is a senior in high school, and has a spoiled cat named Alex. In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, singing in her church choir, and listening to jazz.
Julie Mercer // Client Care Coordinator
I’m Julie Mercer I’ve been married to my amazing husband for 30yrs. and we have 3 incredible kiddos (all Aggies…WHOOP) and a wonderful daughter in law.
I’m a Kinesiology Major/Business Minor from UNT. I had the joy of teaching Physical Education and coaching various girls’ sports for more than 12 years. Then I transitioned to Marketing/Sales in the sports management field.
During my lifetime I’ve learned from all of my experiences. The qualities that I’ve gained from being a wife and a mom early on have helped mold me in being selfless and serving others. The qualities that binds the Acappella Team to me are the following characteristics: serving, integrity and putting others first…basically the golden rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.
I savor the opportunity Acappella has given me to grow as an individual and as a team player. I am blessed to have the opportunity to continue learning, growing and striving with an agency that strives to serve others. Currently I am continuing my education to become a Certified Senior Advisor and look forward to more opportunities to continued growth with Acappella.
Brittney Moore // Associate Client Care Coordinator
Brittney is a proud Bobcat from Texas State University where she received her bachelors of Science in Mass Communication and Public Relations. Her career began with fundraising for Seton Hospital around the Austin area for a project called The Children’s Care-A-Van. This project provides a doctor’s office on wheels for children of low income families. “Helping those in need and providing a great service has always been important to me.” Brittney was an accomplished and successful team member at MedShare Technologies where she bought and sold preowned capital equipment in the cosmetic laser industry. This native Dallas girl is glad to be back home where she can thrive and be around family. Brittney is excited to be a part of the Acappella family and thrilled to help provide a service that helps individuals stay happy and healthy in their own homes.
Abu Nasser // Staff Accountant
I am Abu Nasser. I am a staff accountant at Acappella. I joined Acappella family in June 2015. Before Acappella I always worked in a corporate world so working with a small company is new to me. It is a big change for me and I would really do enjoy it. My work and life balance is much better now. We are in the business of taking care of people and Acappella family is very committed to our clients and employees.
Julie Walkup // Certified Geriatric Care Manager, CMC
Julie Walkup started her career after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Gerontology from the University of North Texas. Her lifelong passion of caring for seniors became an exciting reality. Her career began as an activities director in a retirement community in the heart of downtown Fort Worth. It soon led to various Marketing positions in several senior communities in Dallas. Helping seniors and their families became a career to be very proud of. With over 16 years of experience working with seniors & their families, she brings a vast array of knowledge of the “booming” senior industry. In June 2013, Julie became a Certified Geriatric Care Manager, one of her career goals. Through this certification, she hopes to educate the community about care management and to continue her excellence in providing the best options for seniors. She is currently the Marketing Director for Acappella in Home Care.
