Jo Alch, RN // Owner, Director of Nursing
Jo is the Founder and Director of Nursing at Acappella. Jo worked as a hospice field and triage nurse for many years, discovering a big void in exceptional private duty care and nursing services. Jo opened Acappella in 2006, with a vision to be the leading private pay agency in the DFW area. Jo has won numerous awards for her efforts. She was selected as one of the “Great 100 RNs” in Dallas in 2007. In 2012, Jo was awarded D Magazine’s prestigious “Excellence in Nursing” for home care, and was also recognized by Nurses.Com magazine as a regional finalist for outstanding home care nursing. Jo served on the Board of Directors of the Texas Association for Home Care and Hospice, and had an active role on the private pay committee. She is currently serving on the board for the Community Council of Greater Dallas, and is the committee chair for the Dallas Area Agency on Aging. Jo is an active member of her church choir, recently performing at Carnegie Hall in NYC. She is originally from New Orleans, where she is in the Krewe of Muses. Jo has an amazing husband and three wonderful children.
Matt Alch // CFO
Matt came to Acappella in 2007, after spending 25 years at Fortune 500 companies, Citigroup and Wells Fargo. He began his career at The Associates as an accountant in its relocation company and later was responsible for financial reporting for several of the company’s commercial business lines. By the time, the Associates was acquired by Citi, he had moved to the risk analytics group in the consumer lending side of the company. He left Citi and went to work at Wells Fargo as part of a newly formed risk analysis/decision science team, where he spent most of his time developing credit scoring and loss forecasting models for the company’s real estate, credit card, and Canadian consumer loan portfolios. Since he came to Acappella, Matt has been responsible for all financial/accounting matters and much of the back office functions for the company. Having been part of Acappella since the early days, he feels incredibly proud and blessed to have played a part in building Acappella into the premier Private Duty agency in DFW.
Kim Hutson / / Human Resources Director, Dallas
Kim Hutson has made a successful career in Human Resources! She is passionate about ensuring excellent hiring practices and always considers the care she desires for her own family members. For Kim, the knowledge of government regulations and policy’s and following the rules, is almost as rewarding as her love of traveling. She once toured Europe for three months with her sister; it was a trip she will never forget! Kim accomplished one of her bucket list goals when she received her degree from The University of Phoenix as an adult. She is a perpetual student and has a true love for learning and life. Kim is mother of two adult children and is a faithful servant to the Lord and too her elder family members. Acappella is so thankful to have Kim on our team!
Julie Mercer // Administrator
I’m Julie Mercer I’ve been married to my amazing husband for 30yrs. and we have 3 incredible kiddos (all Aggies…WHOOP) and a wonderful daughter in law.
I’m a Kinesiology Major/Business Minor from UNT. I had the joy of teaching Physical Education and coaching various girls’ sports for more than 12 years. Then I transitioned to Marketing/Sales in the sports management field.
During my lifetime I’ve learned from all of my experiences. The qualities that I’ve gained from being a wife and a mom early on have helped mold me in being selfless and serving others. The qualities that binds the Acappella Team to me are the following characteristics: serving, integrity and putting others first…basically the golden rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.
I savor the opportunity Acappella has given me to grow as an individual and as a team player. I am blessed to have the opportunity to continue learning, growing and striving with an agency that strives to serve others. Currently I am continuing my education to become a Certified Senior Advisor and look forward to more opportunities to continued growth with Acappella.
Tom Ives, RN // Assistant Director of Nursing
Tom Ives is the Assistant Director of Nursing at Acappella In Home Care. A former Naval Officer, he served in the U.S. Navy on two different ships of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet. Following his naval service, he worked in the defense contracting industry supporting the U.S. Navy and various international navies. A desire to reduce business travel led him to change careers to the health care field. Tom graduated from Collin College’s nursing program and has focused on home health. “I really enjoy helping our clients and their families. It is very rewarding to know you can make a positive difference in people’s lives.”
Julie Beazley // Director of Client Care, CMC Care Manager Certified
Julie Walkup started her career after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Gerontology from the University of North Texas. Her lifelong passion of caring for seniors became an exciting reality. Her career began as an activities director in a retirement community in the heart of downtown Fort Worth. It soon led to various Marketing positions in several senior communities in Dallas. Helping seniors and their families became a career to be very proud of. With over 16 years of experience working with seniors & their families, she brings a vast array of knowledge of the “booming” senior industry. In June 2013, Julie became a Certified Geriatric Care Manager, one of her career goals. Through this certification, she hopes to educate the community about care management and to continue her excellence in providing the best options for seniors. She is currently the Marketing Director for Acappella in Home Care.
Jeff Cyk // Client Care Manager
After a long and successful career in sales/marketing as a wholesale sales rep in the woman’s accessory industry, I decided to make a career change back in August of 20I6. I chose Home Health because I had worked in a nursing home as a teenager and got to interact with patients who had Alzheimer’s and Dementia. I really enjoyed it and the best part was making seniors smile and feel that they still had a life to enjoy. I have been married to my wonderful wife, Alayne, for 36 years and we have 2 wonderful girls, Jayme who is 30 and Brittany who is 27. My hobbies include playing golf, working out at the gym and watching professional football, basketball, baseball and hockey.
Stephanie Brittain // Client Care Manager
I have always had a desire to be in the healthcare industry. My first job in high school was working in a dentist office, and my first job out of college was working as a manager for a health insurance company. I would have to say, my favorite job is being a mom to my three wonderful children. I am known for saying these 2 things: “Life is a journey” and “You will never regret being kind.” I love being a Baylor Bear and have lived in North Dallas for 25 years. I am the newest member to the Acappella team, and I was immediately drawn to working for a company that treats its employees, clients and caregivers all as equals. To be in this industry, you must not only have a passion to help others but also be filled with compassion. I strive to be this type of person in all that I do, and I am blessed to work for Acappella, for as a team, we strive to show that same kind of compassion towards each other and our clients.
Rachel O’Brien // Client Care Manager
Rachel O’Brien has over 20 years of experience in healthcare. Starting out as HR Director of a Long Term Care facility, she soon discovered her true passion was in marketing. Since then, Rachel has been building relationships in all aspects of the healthcare industry and guiding families along the way in choosing the right services for their loved ones. Rachel brings her expertise and passion to our Fort Worth office as Client Care Manager to help build our brand as one of the leading Personal Care Agencies in the area. Married a handsome Irish lad from Boson 27 years ago, the couple has 5 amazing children and 3 beautiful grandchildren. Rachel attended University of North Texas.
